Design of Xiaomi 14
Based on our firsthand experience, we can confidently say that the design of Xiaomi 14 is beautifully constructed and this phone feels no less premium than a Samsung or an Apple iPhone. I personally prefer the in-hand feel and the build quality of the Xiaomi 14 to its competitors such as IQ or One Plus as it feels more premium.
This phone weighs about 193g which is impressive and you won’t have any issues holding it in your hands, furthermore, the size of this phone is perfect for majority of the hands for them to be able to actually reach the top of the phone with the thumb without having to do some hand gymnastics.
The only concern about the design we have here is the camera module as it juts out a lot like cmon it doesn’t look cool. The Display of this smartphone is another element that we adore and it surely makes it stand out. This staggering smartphone provides a 6.36-inch OLED panel with extremely slim bezels on all four corners. Furthermore, this flagship device also provides a fantastic estate.
Moreover, the display has a refresh rate of 120Hz which takes the gaming and movie-watching experience to a whole new level, the color accuracy of the display is also stunning and is very similar to what you would see on the MacBook Air which is quite impressive.
Another thing that almost every Xiaomi smartphone has is the support for Dolby Vision, the HDR tuning has been done very well as well with smooth gradation between the highlights and the shadows. Furthermore, the content looks stunning and we can assure you that you’re not gonna have any issues regarding the display of this smartphone.
3000 nits is the peak brightness of this device and the typical brightness is 1000 nits when used outdoors, the touch response rate is 240Hz which is super responsive and it is quite necessary for gamers. The in-display fingerprint scanner is an optical one and it’s very fast to unlock the phone with absolutely zero issues.
The haptic feedback has also been tuned well, like it’s not the best but what we particularly like is the vibration feedback that you get while changing the volume, or when you’re unlocking the phone.
As for the audio quality, it is surely impressive but nothing really groundbreaking. We compared the audio quality of Xiaomi 14 with Samsung Galaxy S24 and the difference wasn’t that much, so overall the audio quality of Xiaomi 14 is indeed impressive and this was it for the audio and display, now let us discuss the performance.
Performance & Gaming
Okay so we’re gonna be completely honest, we didn’t expect the Xiaomi 14 to be a performance monster but it doesn’t disappoint. We did some benchmarking tests and this smartphone did perform a bit low as compared to OnePlus 12 and IQOO 12 however, the difference wasn’t too much.
What we absolutely love about the Xiaomi 14’s performance tuning is that the smartphone doesn’t throttle too much when used in the performance mode.
As for gaming, we tested one of the most demanding mobile games called Genshin Impact, we ran it on the highest settings and the Xiaomi 14 handled it like a champ and delivered consistent 55-60 FPS all along, Moreover, we even tested COD Mobbile which is another most played mobile game and this device handled that game absolutely fine without any lags or stutters.
The only issue with the performance we have is that the device tends to heat up pretty quickly when playing high-end games such as PUBG, COD Mobile, or Genshin Impact so if you’re a hardcore gamer and decide to purchase this smartphone then we recommend you to also purchase a mobile cooling fan to keep the temperature normal.
Battery
Alright so as mentioned above the Xiaomi 14 features a 4610mAh and in our battery test it lasted about 4.5 to 5 hours with heavy usage so it’s pretty decent honestly, the battery is quite disappointing as compared to the battery life of the OnePlus 12 IQOO.
Furthermore, you get a 90-watt charger along with the phone which charges up the phone extremely fast, Xiaomi 14 gets charged from 0 to 100 in just about 31 minutes using the 90-watt original charger. This smartphone also provides support for wireless charging which again is a stunning feature that almost every smartphone should have in today’s date.
Connectivity
You are gonna have absolutely no issues regarding the connectivity of this phone as it supports as many 5G bands as you can think of, you get support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC as well.
The call quality is fantastic and now we’ve got 5G network almost everywhere so, this smartphone will indeed allow users to take full advantage of the 5G network.
Softwares
One thing that is really impressive about this flagship phone is that Xiaomi promises 4 plus 5 years of software updates on this phone. Furthermore, the OS install itself is very light and the animations, and UI all of tat feel extremely subtle and smooth which is surely a fantastic thing.
We really love the floating window implementation on this device which allows users to have a smart sidebar and from there they can access the recent apps.
Camera
Alright so finally let us discuss the camera of Xiaomi 14 it provides a 50 MP Light Hunter 900/Ultra-Wide/3.2X Telephoto Lens Rear camera. So the primary camera is capable of easily capturing a good amount of details and based on our experience, there’s absolutely no over-sharpening.
The Xiaomi 14’s camera is pretty good in terms of capturing subtle and small details, furthermore, the Leica vibrant mode boosts the colors to an extent.
There are different Leica modes available as well such as the Leica vibrant and the Leica authentic and both of them provide great images. Overall the camera quality of Xiaomi 14 is pretty staggering and you will have absolutely no issues with the camera whatsoever.
